High color resolution screens-what the Windows Mobile team has to say

Recently, LCDs became available that can do 18bit color. Of course, some handset makers implemented such screens into their products, however, many of them ignored the new technology.
The Windows Mobile team has a nice summary of the problems with high color resolutions in general and the 18bit color resolution in specific. While there is a lot of blah-blah in the M$-sponsored article, it sitll brings over its message very well.

How do you feel about 18bit color screens?

Brad: Delete them. :)

As for 18 bit colour: It is noticeably superior to 15 bit colour, and all of Microsoft's spin engine can't change that.

Or, in other words:
Is a marginally better image worth slower graphics?

HELL YES!

Hi Steven,
IMHO not at every price! However, recently I read about a cell phone that did native 24bit color in QVGA, so there may be movement in this sector soon! Anyways, I dont beleive that having the system run in 16bit color mode unneededly is stupid, one should IMHO always use the color mode suitable best for an application!
About the spammages: What about turning on the captcha?
Bst regards

Hi,
as little warm feelings as I have towards my old "comrades" (I am a Microsoft Office Specialist, aquired many many years ago), I still beleive that they are right in one thing:

More colors=slower

I personally run my desktop machine on 16bit mode sometimes if speed is at a premium-and that altough I have a Geforce card, a Siemens CRT,.... .

Best regards
